Spicy Black Bean Hummus recipe

Hi everyone!

My husband LOVES beans, of any type, black, white, pinto, it doesn’t matter; the problem is I DON’T! Never been my favorite thing and my mom –and almost everyone that knows me- knows it. This morning I made a huge pot of black beans just to mix them with some quinoa and have a badge ready for a salad (I like beans mixed with something else) and then I thought of hummus!

Hummus is probably our favorite thing to snack with and I noticed I never shared a recipe with you before! So this is my take on a “Spicy Black Bean Hummus”.

INGREDIENTS (makes about 3 cups of hummus)

  • 1 ½ cups black beans, cooked.

  • 1 ½ cups cooked garbanzo beans.

  • 4 tbs olive oil.

  • 1 tsp pink salt.

  • 1 tsp black pepper.

  • 1 tbs ground cumin.

  • 2 chopped cloves of garlic.

  • 1 fresh basil leaf.

  • 1 chopped serrano pepper (if you don’t like it too spicy, remove the seeds first).

PREPARATION (3 minutes)

  1. Put everything in the food processor in high speed for 30 seconds or until you get a spready paste.

Easy right?! You can serve this with your favorite chips; potato, kale, corn, you name it! Its also a GREAT replacement of mayo in for your morning sandwich.

Thank you! And Enjoy!
