Favorite Spots: Nonna's (Chicago, IL)

Oh Hello!

Today I want to talk to you about my favorite sandwich restaurant in all Chicago and if you follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook you might have a pretty good idea of the place I’m dedicating this post. The place is called Nonna’s and its located on Randolph Street in the west side of downtown Chicago.

Let me tell you the story about how we found this awesome restaurant. It was 2014 and we had just moved to Chicago, my husband was out of town for work and our anniversary was just around the corner so I decided to literally google the best restaurants in the Windy City and make reservations. Formento’s came up and we celebrated right there. That night I had a very tasty Carbonara but also the best meatballs we’ve ever had, those meatballs are the ones we love. That night we found out that Nonna’s had just opened for business and was going to be a sandwich shop, that’s all we knew.

Formento’s and Nonna’s are like a brother and sister, they’re located next to each other and the same blood runs through their veins. The specialty of Nonna’s is their well-known meatball sandwich which is – believe me when I say this -  the best meatball sandwich you will ever have in your life. The meatballs are just too incredible; they basically cover all the aspects that a good meatball should cover: perfect texture swimming around in a dreamy sauce!

If you’re looking for a place to make brunch or just to take out and go to the park afterwards, this is definitely your place. Our favorites are: Nonna’s Meatball Sub, Nonna’s Meatball Salad and the Chicken Parmesan Sub.

Last but not least, here’s a tip! Just make it a combo! So you get to taste their freshly made salt & vinegar chips. That’s all I’m saying.

I will let these pictures speak for themselves now.

Many thanks to Henry for his support during my last visit to the restaurant and to Galeano for his great customer service.
